Overview of Currituck County Records
- Currituck County was created in 1670 from Albemarle County.
- Copies of birth and death certificates for 1916 and later can be obtained from the North Carolina Vital Records Office.
- The Currituck County courthouse burned in 1842 and some records were lost. The 1820 census is missing.
- The Currituck County Register of Deeds has birth records starting in 1914, marriage records starting in 1851, death records starting in 1814, and land records starting in 1765.
- The Currituck County Clerk Superior Court has probate records starting in 1772 and court records starting in 1799.
